Series 6, Episode 1 is the first episode of the sixth series of the Scottish television crime drama Shetland. It first aired on 20 October 2021 and is based on the characters and settings as depicted in the Shetland Island series of novels by English author Ann Cleeves.
Synopsis[]
On the remote and wind-blown Fair Isle, Jimmy Perez attends his mother’s funeral. At the wake, it’s clear that his father, James, is having trouble with his memory, but it’s then that Tosh calls to inform him that Alex Galbraith has been shot dead on his doorstep in broad daylight. Perez asks Cassie to bring James back to Lerwick and rushes back to Shetland.
A prominent lawyer, Galbraith was known across the Isles and notorious for securing the compassionate release from prison of Donna Killick, the murderer of Lizzie Kilmuir. But is this the reason for the murder, or could the real target have been his wife, Eve, who is running as an independent candidate in the upcoming Westminster by-election on a divisive platform?
